Special Treats & Homemade Wreaths

Love the fact that some guests choose to come here to celebrate – whether it’s honeymoon (our ‘first’, thank you), special wedding anniversaries or birthdays & we’ve had a wonderful autumn period for all these.

And the weather must have known because on the whole even November and most of December has been exceptionally good clear sunny wintery days.Fantastic walking weather. All you need is warm clothing and you’re off ! Although the days are shorter, you can still have a good few hours out on the fells and then return to the cosy wood-burner in your own private sitting room.

The other special touch I like to offer guests is a taste of whichever hooch I’ve made that autumn and that all depends on which fruit there is a glut of – it can be sloe gin or blackberry vodka etc…. These winter months are THE season to relish in comfort and soak up all the little luxuries here.

On that note I must tell you about Fou Furnishings…When we first stared I searched high and low to find top-quality bed linen. I was looking for something incredibly comfortable, positively luxurious and beautifully made and that was also organic. It might sound simple but finding it, really wasn’t. I was so pleased to find Stephanie at Fou who could not have been more helpful.

To say “highly recommended” is an understatement and I have learnt how guests really appreciate such wonderful bed linen: www.foufurnishings.com

It seems apt to end the year with something that blends inside and out as that is so much at the heart of what we do. So here are some wreaths my daughters and I made one December weekend. Great fun to work on these together and love using foliage from the garden.

On that note, wishing you a Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year.
