It is clear from a quick flick through Briar Rigg’s visitors book that breakfast is a highlight for many guests.

We want to give our guests a really fabulous experience and we feel food is particularly important in achieving this. We like to set everyone up for their day ahead with a first class breakfast. explains Fiona.

Fiona clearly has a passion for food, offering guests a seasonal menu, with many of the ingredients grown at Briar Rigg or locally sourced from artisan producers.

There is always a fruit option available – freshly squeezed orange juice and either homemade compote from the garden, fruit salad or selection of fresh fruit and yoghurts. Guests have a choice of cooked breakfast – ranging from a traditional English breakfast to smoked salmon and scrambled eggs or a melee of local bacon and mushrooms on toasted muffins.

Breakfast is accompanied by a selection of fresh homemade breads, muffins and as much top quality Fair Trade tea and coffee as guests care for. Fiona is very happy to cater for special dietary requirements.

Fiona’s home-made Elderflower Cordial is very much in demand and loved by those who’ve tasted it. Many guests buy one, two or three bottles to take home with them or for that special gift.

One thing that is guaranteed, guests of Briar Rigg will not go hungry!
